I am from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. My mom is a homemaker, and my dad
was a Technical Officer at CTRI, Guntur. Unfortunately, He passed away during
my first year of B-Pharmacy.
Your Early Education
I have a Bachelors in Pharmacy from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Andhra
Pradesh, India.
When & Why You came to Canada
I came to Canada in December, 2009 to pursue post-secondary studies in
Biotechnology and to begin my pharmacy career.
Your career advancement initiatives, volunteer work and present occupation
I volunteered at a few workshops about Opioid awareness and harm reduction. In
the future, when I have more time to dedicate to Public Health education, I would
love to enhance awareness around ongoing medical issues.
My career advancements include APA and compounding skills. With additional
prescribing authority, I am doing my very best to help patients manage their
ongoing treatment plan. I also treat minor infections that are within my scope of
practise.
Your Regret in Life
I don’t have any.
Pick Any One of Your Best Achievements
Winning the My favourite pharmacist contest PAM 2021 by CPHA is one of my
biggest achievements. Many valued patrons took the time to nominate me and
leave kind words about my service. I am privileged that I am able to share my
knowledge and utilise it to give back to the community.
Were You Ever Discriminated?
Yes, a few times. But I have learnt to overcome those experiences by adapting and
responding appropriately to the circumstances. I believe that by doing and being
the best in what I do, I help bring about acceptance and respect for my ethnicity
and culture.
Are You Happy in Canada?
Absolutely. Canada has given me the opportunity to achieve my goals and realize
my dreams.

Any Comments on Canada’s Culture
It’s multicultural and colourful. There are a lot of interesting things to learn and
explore. World has become Global village. Every society provide all kinds of
avenues. We are to tread the right path.
Any Comments on Canada’s Weather
Canadian winters can be harsh, but I have learnt how to deal with them over time. I
have lived in Canada for more than a decade now, so I am acclimatized to the
weather.
What Brought You Success in Canada?
My passion, hard work and the support of family – especially my husband, Raj
Kunduru, and my mom, Lakshmi Mettu. They encouraged and supported me in
every step of the way and made it possible for me to go after what I wanted.
Are You Willing to Help New Immigrants and How?
Yes, I can guide them well if they want to pursue a career in the Pharmacy field.
Your Message for Canadians of Asian Origin
Once you identify your goal, work hard and don’t give up easily. In a new country,
things may take time in the beginning, however, don’t lose hope. Stay focused on
the end result. Just be yourself, and be ready to learn and embrace other cultures.
Compassion is the essence of Canadian values. Be compassionate.
