Recall is ‘unprecedented,’ aviation expert says
I just spoke with John Gradek, a faculty lecturer in aviation management at McGill University in Montreal.
He says the scale of this recall is “unprecedented” and will have a significant impact on carriers globally.
Now it’s just a matter of how quickly the repairs can be made, he said.
“Some of these airplanes are flying into locations that are not necessarily home base for mechanical support or maintenance support, so it could take a while to get the fix installed on those airplanes,” he said.
That being said, Gradek said he suspects the industry wouldn’t want to see these planes grounded for more than a few days.
