Srinagar: Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Umer was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Pulwama district of Kashmir on Monday, reported news agency ANI.
The militant was a part of Abu Ismail group, informed sources.
On Sunday night, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in village Samboora following a tip off about presence of militants there, said a police official.
Three LeT terrorists, including Ayoub Lelhari from Lelhar Pulwama and Rehman, were holed up at the encounter site, said sources.
The search party of forces was fired upon by militants triggering a gunbattle, the official said.
One militant was killed in the encounter, he said adding that the identity and group affiliation of the slain ultra was being ascertained.
To maintain law and order, the authorities have blocked the internet services in Pulwama after encounter as a precautionary measure.
