Toronto police have released images of a vehicle they believe was involved in the fatal shooting of an eight-year-old boy in North York this month.
Police said Sunday the vehicle they are looking for is believed to be a white Acura, and they are asking the public for help identifying and locating it.
The incident happened just after midnight on Aug. 16. Police responded to a shooting in the area of Marha Eaton Way and Trethewey Drive to find an eight-year-old boy had been struck by a stray bullet while he was in bed at home in an apartment building.
The boy, identified as Jahvai Roy, died in hospital shortly after. His mother has described him as “a good little soul” who “was so kind.”
Police have not yet released descriptions of any suspects, or identified how many shooters they believe there were, saying they fled the scene before officers arrived.
The shooting has prompted calls to action against gun violence in the city, including a petition calling on all levels of government to make changes in the way they deal with gun violence.
