Calgary(ATB): Global Pravasi Seniors Society, Calgary celebrated Diwali with gaiety and fervour on October 19 at Whitehorn Community Hall, Calgary.
Seniors turned up in large numbers as Hall was full to capacity.
Rishi Nagar, Amarjit Rakhara, Mandeep Kaur, Mandeep Kaur Sekhon, Jarnail Alleon, Daljit Singh and Vijay Sachdeva were key note singers and enthralled the audience with their mind blowing numbers.
“Our members and guests were spellbound and had all the praise” expressed Sat Paul Kaushal, President.
Dipavali commonly known as Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, with variations celebrated in other Indian religions such as Jainism and Sikhism. It symbolises the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma, light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
All the members enjoyed snacks and dinner.
Festivities culminated into Bhangra and dance by men and women.
“We celebrate every year. However, this time it created history with so many performances’ and large attendance” expressed Sat Paul.
