Bell Aliant says 911 service is restored in the three Maritime provinces after it was disrupted earlier Tuesday morning.
The telecommunications company said earlier that people in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and P.E.I. “may be experiencing issues” calling 911 from a landline.
During the interruption, people were asked to call their local police detachment or fire station if they needed help.
The disruption prompted an emergency alert being issued in Nova Scotia shortly after 8 a.m. Another alert was issued about an hour and a half later saying service was restored.
The Nova Scotia Emergency Management Office said in a tweet at 9:38 a.m. that service was available.
“Please resume calling 911 if you require emergency assistance,” it said. “Do not call to test the system.”
The New Brunswick Emergency Management Office also said people can resume calling 911 if they need emergency help.
