Native Village/Country parent’s background

I originally hail from Village Moholi Kalan Distt. Malerkotla Punjab India. I was raised in Ludhiana City since I was 4 years old. My Father Shri Om Dutt worked as Inspector with Municipal Corporation Ludhiana in Public Health Department and Late Mother Mrs. Sureshut Dutt worked as Nurse with Municipal Corporation. My Late Grand Father Shri Pandit Deen Dayal Ji was a Pharmacist and was well known among the Villages of Malwa region for his medical and humanitarian work during various pandemics in British Undivided India and post independence.

Your Early Education

My Alma mater is same as Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary school, Ludhiana where I completed my high school. I joined J.R. Govt. Polytechnic after High School to finish Diploma in Plastic Technology. Eventually, achieved degrees of Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Amarvati University and M.B.A from Punjab Technical University

When & Why You came to Canada

I came to Canada in 2005 and absolutely the main reason to come to Canada was better balance between work and family life. I used to work longer hours in India and did not have much time for family and “me”.

Your career advancement initiatives, volunteer work and present occupation

I have started my career in Banking with ICICI Bank. I held various positions in Retail banking and Management with ICICI bank and Royal Bank. Currently, I am employed at Crown Corporation ATB as Relationship Manager. I advise on financing to mid-market Corporations up to $10 million dollars. I have been voluntarily involved with few organizations such as Chicago based organization, “Science of Spirituality” where I organize and deliver workshops on Meditation. I am part of with Board of Directors of St. Francis Group of Companies. I also enjoy working with new immigrants mentoring through ERIEC Career mentorship program. 

I served on Condo boards as well.

I run a Child Care Center in Rural Alberta as give back to the society as my endeavour to serve the beautiful Country Canada, our home by choice.  

We raise funds for various charities on a continuous basis.

Your Regret in Life

I try not to regret on any of my decision but If I have to say any regret that would be my Mom’s early demise. 

I wish that she would have been around with us for many more years.

Pick Any One of Your Best Achievements

My Best achievement came through when my wife Mrs. Sanjolly Dutt and I decided to be an entrepreneur. Due to her strength, support and slogging, we are able to convert her hobby business to a successful venture which currently employs around 20 people now.

Were You Ever Discriminated?

I never felt discriminated in this country. On the contrary, I can recall few occasions when my bosses and superiors were concerned that I am not being discriminated. Eventually, it turned out it was just normal business situations. 

Are You Happy in Canada?

I am very Happy in this beautiful country. This country has such a welcoming environment for immigrants all over the world.

Any Comments on Canada’s Culture

I find this society is created on human values and respect for each others.

Multiculturalism is celebrated abundantly. 

Canadians embrace diversity with open arms.  

Any Comments on Canada’s Weather

Weather is bit cold in general here but I am still thankful to God that we see all four seasons here and each season brings it own goodness. Weather also exhorts us that we should be ready to adapt to any kind of season. 

Our life is like the weather here always changing and we need to be prepared to adapt.

What Brought You Success in Canada?

I believe that personal development, hard work and agility to change brought success to me. Yes, support of significant half and family enabled to take meaningful strides.

I am always willing to help immigrants by sharing my time and resources at my command. I have guided many immigrants about the available career options.

Your Message for Canadians of Asian Origin

This is a great country and everything is possible with hard work and perseverance. Therefore, work hard and wait for your turn. We are in society which is created purely on the basis of human values so keep the same close to your heart and enjoy your stay in Canada. It could be struggle in the beginning, however, there is always a light at the end of tunnel. Give back to the society in any way you can.
