Asian Star-Hammad Rehman

Hammad Rehman

Native Village/Country:
My roots are in Lahore, Pakistan.

Your Early Education:
I completed my early education at Beaconhouse School System and later attended Forman Christian College, an institution known for its notable alumni across South Asia, including Pervez Musharraf and I.K. Gujral. After moving to Canada, I pursued my bachelor’s degree from the University of Manitoba in Economics and Business Management.

When & Why You Came to Canada:
I came to Canada in 2013 as an International Student to pursue higher education and build a better future.

Your Career, Initiatives, Volunteer Work & Present Occupation:
I am the President of Met Holding, under which one of our most successful brands in Alberta is MET Blinds. I also serve as the CEO of Met Blinds, a local manufacturing company that produces, retails, and wholesales blinds across Alberta.

In addition, I am one of the founders of Artista Blinds, where I currently act as Director of Marketing. This brand focuses on custom-made blinds sold through e-commerce across the United States.

I am also working on an AI-based CRM project that will be launching soon. Alongside my business ventures, I am a founding member of the Sifarish Network, where I actively volunteer and contribute whenever needed.

Your Regret in Life:
One of my biggest regrets is that I could have started earlier and achieved more by now. Another thing I miss is spending more time with my family, as my work schedule keeps me quite busy.

Pick One of Your Best Achievements:
Building Met Blinds from scratch and growing it to $5 million in revenue within just three and a half years is something I’m very proud of.

Did You Face Discrimination?
Discrimination exists in different forms in everyday life. It’s not about whether you face it, but how you respond to it. I strongly believe that mindset is everything—you have to stay positive, rise above negativity, and focus on becoming better every day.

Are You Happy in Canada?
Yes, absolutely. I am Canadian, and I’m enormously proud to call this country my home.

Your Take on Canada’s Culture:
Canada’s culture is one of its greatest strengths. It’s built on diversity, respect, and inclusion. People from different backgrounds come together and contribute to society while still preserving their own identities. This balance creates opportunities, encourages innovation, and makes Canada a truly welcoming place for anyone willing to work hard.

What About Canada’s Weather:
I won’t lie—I’m not a big fan of the cold weather, especially the long winters. Coming from a warmer place, it took time to adjust. But over the years, you learn to adapt and even appreciate it in some ways. It builds resilience, and it is just part of the Canadian experience.

What Brought You Success in Canada?
A combination of consistency, hard work, strong ethics, and the willingness to take risks.

Are You Willing to Help New Immigrants and How?
Yes, always. I prefer to help by mentoring new immigrants, guiding them through their journey, and, if they have strong ideas and potential, I’m open to investing in them as well.

Your Message for Canadians of Asian Origin:
Stay proud of your roots, but don’t limit yourself because of them. Work hard, stay disciplined, and believe in your ability to succeed here. Canada offers opportunities to those who are willing to put in the effort—make the most of it and support others along the way.
