Native Village/Country parent’s background
I was born and raised at Ludhiana, Punjab, India. Parents hail from Amritsar
District, however, settled at Ludhiana. Father is Punjab’s first official Landscape
Engineer and mother is a homemaker with Bachelors of Education degree. Both
come from farming backgrounds.
Your Early Education
I had early education at Sacred Heart Convent School, Ludhiana.
When & Why You came to Canada
I landed in Canada about 18 years ago. One of our friends had submitted
application for Canadian Visa and we followed to apply for the Visa.
Your career advancement initiatives, volunteer work and present occupation
I started my career in a world-class biotechnology research lab and took career to
great heights with passion towards education and research. She has a Ph.D. from
Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab, India with specialization in plant
gene transfer; education degree from University of Calgary (Canada); Post Doc
from Dalhousie University, Halifax (Canada); Molecular Training from
International Rice Research Institute, Philippines.
She taught at PAU for thirteen years before moving to Canada and worked at
Dalhousie University (Halifax); Research based Biotechnology lab in Calgary until
the company faced closure hit by recession.
More than 30000 learners have benefitted from her classrooms, lectures, and
workshops. Dr. Gill got the opportunity to handle projects funded by Rockefeller
Foundation (USA), Service Canada (Canada) and ICAR (India). 
Presently a mentor, coach and consultant specializing in performance and change
management providing client centered services. Helping professionals from
Global backgrounds to make successful mind shifts to perform. Her credentials
also include a Certified Masters Life Coach and Alberta Teacher. She gives her
services through Leap4Growth and Raman Creations.
From time to time she has volunteered at various occasions in the community. Dr.
Gill has won numerous awards and recognitions for her work including the “The

Global Excellence Award- in pursuit of Excellence 2021” and being recognized an
“International Influencer out of 50 in the world, 2021”. Her vast experience also
comes from working with policymakers, professionals, and youth. She has served
on various boards in the community and presently on the board of Punjabi
Community Health Services, Calgary, and World Book of Records.
Your Regret in Life
Have not published my poetry and write ups.

Many times
Are You Happy in Canada?
Yes, I am super happy here in Canada. I have experienced things and built a
lifestyle which may not have been possible back home. I am proudly referred to
be multitalented personality, scientist, social activist, author, artist, a marathon
runner, and motivational speaker.
Any Comments on Canada’s Culture
There is lot of freedom. Pick up the things that you like and discard the others
that don’t fit into your belief system.
Any Comments on Canada’s Weather
Like majority, I don’t like the harsh winters which is much prolonged in the year.
But life must go on. Therefore, ignore it by molding ourselves and dressing up
appropriately.
What Brought You Success in Canada?
Being committed to any project I have taken and by being authentic and true to
myself and my family. Yes, my significant half, Manjinder Gill has been with me
though thick and thin and enabled me to reach the pinnacle as regards career
goals.
Are You Willing to Help New Immigrants and How?
I am always willing to help new immigrants as I can relate to the difficulties one
can face. Have already demonstrated by founding an organization that

encourages empowering new comers especially women; Have led a program that
guided the new immigrant Youth into work force.
Your Message for Canadians of Asian Origin
Be more open minded to learn new things and devote time for your family, no
matter how busy you are. Prioritize and tap into humongous opportunities that
Canada offers. Always give back to society in any way you can.
