I completed my early education in Prince George, Surrey, and Vancouver. I later earned a degree in Communications from Simon Fraser University, with a minor in European History.

I was born in Hinton, Alberta. My parents immigrated to Canada in 1968 in search of opportunity and a better future for their family.
Your Career Advancement Initiatives, Volunteer Work, and Present Occupation:
My career has been defined by a commitment to leadership, economic growth, and community impact. Over more than 30 years, I have progressed through senior leadership roles, most notably serving 18 years as President and CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade, where I built strong expertise in government relations, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications.
I currently serve as an Honorary Captain (Navy) with the Royal Canadian Navy, contributing to strengthening connections between the military, business, and community sectors. This role reflects my commitment to public service and leadership.
I have continuously invested in professional development through executive leadership training, governance roles, and active participation in policy and economic forums. Volunteerism is central to my work—I serve as Board Chair of Western Community College and have contributed to numerous boards and advisory councils focused on economic development, education, and inclusion.
In my current work, I focus on public affairs, strategic partnerships, and advancing workforce development and innovation, particularly within Surrey’s Health & Technology District. My work bridges industry, education, and government to create meaningful opportunities for individuals and communities.
Your Regret in Life:
Not having enough time to travel and pursue personal hobbies.

My greatest achievement has been my leadership at the Surrey Board of Trade, where I was able to influence economic policy, support businesses, and strengthen the region’s economic voice.

Yes and no. Canada offers tremendous opportunity, but the rising cost of living—especially for seniors—is a growing concern.

Throughout my career, I have worked closely with newcomer communities through business development, workforce integration, and community partnerships. I focus on connecting individuals to opportunities, networks, and resources that accelerate their success. This includes facilitating access to education and skills training, supporting employment pathways and mentorship, building connections with employers and industry leaders, and advocating for improved credential recognition.
Through my work with Western Community College and previously with the Surrey Board of Trade, I have helped newcomers not only integrate—but thrive. Their success strengthens communities, drives innovation, and contributes to a more inclusive and prosperous Canada.
