Standing Against Hatred to Build a Diverse but United Community

Judi Malone/Manpreet Tiwana

Edmonton(ATB): Politics are servant leadership – by and for the people.
Nomination candidates’ Dr Judi Malone and Manpreet Tiwana are both
candidates in the Edmonton Ellerslie Nomination campaign for the Alberta NDP
and jointly they addressed the media looking into some unpleasant developments
in constituency.
“We stand against bias and hatred in all forms. We share the values of building
unity and cherishing our diversity here in Edmonton Ellerslie”, Manpreet Tiwana
said.
We have all had to grapple with disturbing acts of hatred and bias. Violence and
bias divides communities against each other on religious, cultural, or other lines.
There is no place for that in Edmonton Ellerslie. Here we are one community –
united and diverse.
“Conflicts are complex but there is always room – and a need — for rigorous
discussion and debate,” Dr Malone added. “That is (in politics and in community)
without personal or group insult, abuse critique, or attacks. We will continue to
be guided by the ideals of servant leadership and core community values”.
Manpreet Tiwana and Dr Judi Malone are united in emphasizing our community’s
commitment to diversity and inclusion and to creating an atmosphere of
tolerance and unity against bias and hate.
“Let us stand together as a community in solidarity against hateful actions and
intent, whether motivated by religion, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender or
other identities” said Judi who added, “Let us continue to stand together, united
in our diversity, until everyone in Edmonton Ellerslie can live a life grounded in
mutual respect and free from fear.”
These two candidates share a vision for Edmonton Ellerslie and hope that
neighbours, businesses, and communities here do as well. There is no place for
bias or hatred. Especially for elected officials.
“They voice of elected leaders, educators, and community leaders are powerful,”
added Tiwana, “That is a responsibility that we take seriously. We share a
commitment for unity in our diverse community here in Edmonton Ellerslie.”
Manpreet Tiwana an active and dedicated community member. Dr. Malone has a
proven track record of influencing positive decisions that matter to Albertans.
