Mississauga libraries set to reopen Wednesday

1Book borrowers in Mississauga can resume their habit later this week.
Mississauga libraries, which have been closed for weeks, are set to reopen Wednesday now that striking workers have a new four-year collective agreement.
The City of Mississauga and CUPE Local 1989, which represents library workers, reached a tentative settlement last week. The city said in a statement Monday that the union workers had ratified the deal.
The statement says all library facilities will reopen with regular hours at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, “pending ratification of the agreement by the Mississauga Library Board and Mississauga City Council.”
The statement also says that late fines are being waived until the reopening.
The workers have been on strike since July 4.
