5In yet another attempt to win over the hearts of Kashmiri locals, the Indian Army is focusing on imparting education to the children, with their ‘Free Open Army School’ programme.
Srinagar: In yet another attempt to win over the hearts of Kashmiri locals, the Indian Army is focussing on imparting education to the children, with their ‘Free Open Army School’ programme.
The Army has launched ‘Operation Sadbhavana’ in Ganderbal and Sonamarg, under which the Kashmiri children are being provided free education.
The personnel are providing free books, lunch and other facilities to the children.
Speaking to news agency ANI, head teacher Altaf Ahmad said, the children from the nomadic community, who have never been to school are studying in these camps.
Army brought the children to light from darkness, Ahmad said.
Last year, Army focussed on operation — ‘School Chalo’, under which it identified areas and provides students with free coaching and make them participate in extra-curricular activities.
The Army had launched Operation ‘Calm Down’ in August- September to clear different parts of the Valley of militants and protesters using minimum force.
