An overnight fire engulfed several business along the Hart Highway in Prince George.

Few details are officially available but photos and eyewitness accounts indicate the fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. PT Wednesday in the Northwood Plaza, which is home to a liquor store, motel and Nelly’s Pub, a popular performing venue for local musicians.

By 7:30 a.m., flames had largely been contained, but smoke was still rising from the building. While the structures remained standing, it appeared the roof over several of the businesses was severely damaged.

At least four emergency vehicles remain on the scene and work to manage the fire is ongoing.
