Delhi: A 26-year-old girl student currently doing PhD from Delhi’s prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has reportedly gone missing for the past five days.
A case against unidentified persons have been registered and the Delhi Police has begun its investigation into the mater.
The missing girl had last spoken to her mother over telephone on March 10 and is untraceable since then.
She is a first-year student of the Ph.D. life sciences course at JNU and used to stay at the Shipra Girls Hostel inside the varsity campus.
Unable to establish contact with his sister, her brother went to her hostel to inquire about his well being.
However, upon reaching there, his brother found that her room was locked.
The girl’s family suspects that she has been kidnapped by some persons.
The JNU administration has not reacted to the incident as yet.
Two more JNU students – Mukul Jani and Najeeb Ahmed – had earlier gone missing from the varsity campus and are still untraceable.
Mukul Jain, enrolled in the Life Sciences course, has been missing since 8 January this year.
A missing report was registered in the evening of 8 January. It is suspected that he was having some problems in his relationship, a senior police officer from the South-west District said.
Najeeb Ahmed, also a JNU student, went missing from the Mahi-Mandvi hostel of the university on 15 October in 2016, following a scuffle with some other students, allegedly affiliated to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the previous night.
Over a month after the incident, his mother moved the Delhi High Court, seeking directions to the police to trace her son.
The high court on May 16, 2017, handed over to the CBI the investigation into the disappearance of Najeeb, a student of MSc in Biotechnology.
The CBI has even announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for anyone providing crucial information about Najeeb Ahmed.
