Covid Update: India has registered less than 40,000 cases for the second straight day. The country reported 36,083 new Covid 19 cases, 37,927 recoveries, and 493 deaths in the last 24 hrs, as per Health Ministry.

The weekly positivity rate remains below 5% and is currently at 2.00%. The daily positivity rate at 1.88%; less than 3% for the last 20 days.

Total cases: 3,21,92,576

Total recoveries: 3,13,76,015

Active cases: 3,85,336

Death toll: 4,31,225

Total vaccinated: 54,38,46,290 (73,50,553 in last 24 hrs)

India administers 54 cr Covid Vaccine doses

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 54 crore, the Union health ministry said on Saturday. Nearly 52 lakh doses were administered on Saturday, according to a provisional report till 7 pm.

The ministry said 27,37,130 first doses and 6,07,591 second doses were administered to beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group on Saturday.

Cumulatively, 19,45,18,646 people in the 18-44 age group across all states and union territories have received their first dose and 1,51,14,678 have received their second dose since the start of phase-3 of the vaccination drive, it said.

Five states — Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh — have administered more than 1 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine to people in the 18-44 age group, according to the ministry.

Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kerala, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal have administered the first dose to more than 10 lakh beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group.

Maharashtra Records Five More Covid Delta Plus Variant

Five people, including one from Mumbai, have died and as many as 66 people have been found infected with the Delta Plus variant of Covid 19in Maharashtra so far. Some of them are fully vaccinated, the state health department said on Friday.

Seven of these patients were aged under 18, they added.

The COVID-19 Delta Plus variant, considered highly infectious, was detected during genome sequencing of swab samples sent from different parts of the state.

A 63-year-old fully vaccinated woman from Mumbai died because of the infection in the last week of July, the first death due to the Delta Plus variant in Mumbai, a civic official said.
