Witnessing continuous surge in the number of Coronavirus cases in the state, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced to impose several restrictions in an effort to control the spread of the deadly disease. As per the latest announcement, the Bihar government has decided to impose night curfew which will remain in place across the state starting from today, 9 pm to 5 am.

Addressing the media on Sunday evening, the Chief Minister announced that all shops selling vegetables, fruits, eggs and meat will be closed by 6 pm. Restaurants and dhabas to be operational for home delivery and take away services till 9 pm.

Moreover, schools, colleges and other educational institutes will remain closed and no examination will be held by state-run schools and universities till May 15. Cinema halls, malls, clubs, gyms, and parks will also remain closed till May 15. 

All religious places will remain closed in Bihar for next four weeks. The authorities have been directed to now allow more than 25 people at last rites. Only 100 people will be allowed at weddings.

Government offices will function with one-third strength and only till 5 pm.

In another important announcement, Bihar government has decided to provide bonus salary of one month to all healthcare workers in the state this year as well.

The strict COVID-19 restrictions have come at the time when Bihar reported as many as 8,690 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.
