Bhagat Singh museum without Generator Operator

Edmonton (ATB): “I stopped at museum to pay obeisance and visit my ancestral
village Khatkar Kalan. However, I was shocked to know that in spite of working
day of the museum, there was no provision for Generator Operator (as there was
power outage). The employees at the museum informed me that Generator
Operator has not been appointed so far.” telephonically informed Narinder
Sharma, village native and the son of former renowned personality of local area,
(Late) Pandit Sadhu Ram Ji.
“I wondered that the employees were not able to switch the power from
electricity to Generator which every household can do easily when power is out.
Other visitors from far and wide were also dismayed. I had no other option except
to report in visitor’s book” said Narinder.
Shaheed -E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum is situated in the ancestral village
of Shaheed-e-Azam, Khatkar Kalan which is located at approximately 41 km from
Jalandhar to Nawanshahar – Banga Road. It was opened on 23rd of March 1981 in
the village, on the 50th Martyrdom anniversary of Sardar Bhagat Singh. The
village is famous for its patriots and freedom fighters like Sardar Ajit Singh, Sardar
Swaran Singh, and Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.
We will like to mention here that the oath taking ceremony of Chief Minister of
Punjab, Shri Bhagwant Mann was held at Khatkar Kalan on March 16 th , 2022 and it
cost the exchequer over Rs 3 Crore whereas event was concluded in just 17
minutes.
We wish Government of Punjab should take notice of this and initiate suitable
measures.
