Ashish Khaitan compares AAP manifesto with Guru Granth Sahib, booked in Punjab

5Chandigarh: Punjab Police on Wednesday lodged an against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashish Khaitan for hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs.
The complaint was filed against Khetan in Amritsar after he reportedly compared the AAP manifesto with the holy book Guru Granth Sahib and other religious books while launching it in Amritsar.
The FIR was filed against the AAP leader under Section 295A.
Meanwhile, facing criticism for using the image of the Golden Temple on the cover page of its ‘Youth Manifesto’ for Punjab Assembly polls, AAP yesterday tendered an apology, saying it did not intend to “undermine any section of the society”.
Earlier, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal attacked AAP for using the image of the Golden Temple on the cover page of its manifesto with the party’s election symbol of broom superimposed on it, saying it amounted to “desecration” of the holy book and sought an apology from AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
