“I don’t say that ISI or Pakistan cannot be involved in this game. But if there is a reality in this claim, the government should prove it,” he said.
Amritsar : Criticising the Punjab Police for allegedly failing to ensure fair trial of UK national Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi, an accused in targeted killings in the state, Aam Aadmi Party’s Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi on Sunday dared the Amarinder government to prove the ISI hand behind these killings.
“I don’t say that ISI or Pakistan cannot be involved in this game. But if there is a reality in this claim, the government should prove it,” said Gandhi, while talking to the media on the sidelines of a seminar on drugs, in Amritsar. The event was organised by Sai Mian Mir Foundation, headed by Indo-Pak peace activist Harbhajan Singh Brar.
“The media reports reveal that police behaviour with Johal is not fair and his basic human rights are being violated. This is being unjust to him”, he said.
The MP said Johal needs fair trial and he should be given opportunity to present his case properly through a lawyer.
Speaking on drugs, he reiterated that the menace can only be curbed in Punjab if the ban on traditional or natural drugs such as opium is lifted. “The synthetic drugs have ruined the young generation of the Punjab”, he said.
