Woman suffers ‘life-altering’ injuries after being struck by car along Calgary’s Macleod Trail

A woman suffered significant injuries after being hit by a vehicle along Macleod Trail in southwest Calgary early Friday morning.

According to police, the woman, whose age was not released, was walking westbound in the crosswalk on the north side of the 42nd Avenue S.W. intersection at around 1:50 a.m. when she was struck by a southbound 2002 Honda Civic.

Police confirmed the pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life threatening but “life-altering” injuries. As of Friday afternoon, her condition was considered stable.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was not seriously injured and remained on scene following the collision. Investigators do not believe he had been drinking or on drugs.

The investigation into the collision continues and police are seeking witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage of the collision or the events beforehand. Tips may be submitted to the CPS non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers.
