Terrorist gunned down in J&K’s Rajouri, infiltration bid foiled; two militants manage to flee

Srinagar: Border Security Force personnel foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Keri Sector of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir and gunned down a terrorist in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to media reports, BSF troops deployed at the fence of LoC in Keri Sector observed a suspicious movement of a group of terrorists at midnight and organised effective firing.
A gunfight ensued between BSF 163 Battalion and terrorists. Two terrorists managed to flee the spot amid the hail of gunfire but one terrorist was annihilated, according to a report.
“Terrorist retaliated with heavy fire, the cross-firing continued for half an hour,” the release said.
The terrorists opened fire at BSF after they foiled an infiltration bid along the International Border, the report said.
The BSF troops recovered the dead body of a militant along with one AK-47 Rifle and 06 magazines filled with ammunitions at a fence on Pakistani side during a detailed search today morning.
Earlier this month, a 20-metre tunnel dug from Pakistan to help terrorist infiltrate into India was found by BSF near the International Border.
The tunnel was recovered during searches at Ramgarh sector in Samba.
