Punjab CM Amarinder Singh allotted four bungalows that were with Badals

7Chief secretary Karan Avtar Singh on Monday cleared the allotment of four bungalows in Sector 2 to Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
Three of these bungalows (Nos. 6, 7, 45) were allotted to former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal during the Akali regime while the fourth (No. 44) was with his deputy and son Sukhbir Singh Badal. Senior Badal has vacated the houses.
According to sources, bungalow No. 6 will be the new CM’s residence. Badal had used it as his camp office, while bungalow No. 45, where he resided, will be Amarinder’s office.
The CM’s security personnel will be staying in bungalow No. 7, as was the case during Badal’s tenure.
The public works department will now refurbish these bungalows, which are adjacent to each other. “We have sought preferences from the ministers concerned, and the renovations will be carried out according to the budget,” said an executive engineer-rank officer of the PWD. Bungalow No. 44, which is still in possession of Sukhbir, will be refurbished after it is vacated.
Nine out of eight ministers have been allotted bungalows (see box for details), but most of these are still in possession of former ministers. Bungalow No. 10 in Sector 2, which has been allotted to Punjab Vidhan Sabha pro tem speaker Rana Kanwarpal Singh, is still in possession of former industries minister Madan Mohan Mittal.
The state government has given them 15 days (after resignation from the government) to vacate the bungalows. The deadline ends on March 27.
