Mumbai: A massive level II fire broke out at an Industrial Estate in Mumbai’s Malad on Thursday morning. Four water tankers and four fire tenders have been rushed to the spot. Rescue operations are currently underway.
In another incident, fire broke out in a godown near Masjid Rahimiyah in Mumbra’s Kausa in Thane on Wednesday night, destroying at least 10 warehouses. Two fire tenders, a rescue vehicle, and four water tankers were rushed to the spot. Police, Regional Disaster Management Cell were also present at the spot.
The situation is now under control. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
The old and worn-out clothes, rubber tyres and other material kept in the godowns aggravated the blaze. Three scooters parked in the area were also charred, he said.
On June 12, a level II fire broke out in the top floors of the 33-storey Beaumonde Towers at commercial premises on Appasaheb Marathe Marg in Worli, Mumbai. It later turned into a level III fire.
The firemen succeeded in controlling the blaze after battling for nearly five hours and evacuating over 90 residents. However, at least two firemen suffered from suffocation and were rushed to a hospital.
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who lives in the same building on the 26th floor, tweeted that she was safe and expressed her prayers for the well-being of the firefighters.
“I am safe. Thank You everyone. Let us pray for our firefighters who are at site risking their lives,” she tweeted.
