Kasganj violence: Two more arrested in Chandan Gupta’s murder who died in clashes

Police on Wednesday arrested two more accused in connection with the murder of Chandan Gupta in Kasganj violence on January 26.
KASGANJ: Police on Wednesday arrested two more accused in connection with the murder of Chandan Gupta in Kasganj violence on January 26.
Identified as Naseem and Waseem, the two accused were arrested with two country-made pistols along with two cartridges.
Twenty-two-year-old Chandan Gupta was killed after clashes broke out between two groups in Kasganj following an unauthorised bike rally, organised to mark Republic Day 2018.
On Tuesday, another accused, identified as Salman, was arrested and on February 3, Rahat Qureshi, a resident of Kasganj’s Smilpur Road, was also arrested in connection with Chandan’s death.
Twenty-two-year-old Chandan Gupta was killed after clashes broke out between two groups in Kasganj following an unauthorised bike rally, organised to mark Republic Day 2018.
Two others were also injured in the incident. Following his death, shops and buses were torched after by a mob.
On January 31, police arrested the main accused Salim. So far, at least 118 people have been arrested in connection with the violence.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier warned of stringent action against those behind the communal clashes in Kasganj.
