Guru Nanak Day Proclamation & Donations to Food Bank

The 553rd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism was celebrated on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 throughout the world including all the Edmonton Gurdwaras. A special ceremony was held by the Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan Committee at Gurdwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha where Councillor Jo-Anne Wright read the November 8, 2022 as ‘Guru Nanak Day’ proclamation on behalf of Mayor Amarjeet Sohi and a cheque of $13013.13 was presented to Edmonton Food Bank on behalf of the Sikh Community and the cheque was received by Tamisan Bencz-Knight, Manager of Strategic & Partnerships, Edmonton Food Bank. 

Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan Committee thanks Gurdwara Millwoods, Gurdwara Nanaksar, Gurdwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha and Siri Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara of Edmonton for helping in raising the funds.
