Gounder shot to limelight in January 2015 when his name cropped up as the prime suspect in the murder of rival gangster Sukha Kahlwan. Gounder and his accomplices filmed the act and danced around Kahlwan’s body in front of policemen.
Chandigarh : Harjinder Singh Bhullar alias Vicky Gounder, who is currently the most wanted gangster in Punjab after he fled the Nabha high-security jail in November last year, continues to dodge the police. Cops are raiding his possible hideouts with the intention to catch him dead or alive.
Gounder, as per various police intelligence inputs, had been moving in and out of Punjab after escaping from jail. While on the run, on April 22 this year he led his accomplices and killed three members of a rival gang in Gurdaspur.
The last time he dodged a joint team of Punjab and Haryana was on Wednesday, when he was spotted living in a farmhouse in Khizrabad of Chhachhroli area of Yamunanagar district, Haryana. Police managed to arrest his aide, identified as Bhoora, but the dreaded gangster managed to flee.
Police also recovered a Toyota Fortuner SUV from the farmhouse which as per claims was looted a gunpoint by Gounder and his accomplices in Ludhiana a few days ago.
After the Nabha jailbreak, Gounder was spotted in Mansa in December last year. In February, police got leads that he was hiding in an NRI’s house in Moga. But he slipped away from the spot minutes before police reached the two spots, sources said.
Gounder, along with three others, had used a stolen Hyundai Verna car to flee from Moga just before the police arrested his four aides from a house at Dhudike village on February 12. In November, the police got to Pandori village in Gurdaspur after getting information that he was staying in a house there, but nothing was found. Police have announced Rs 10 lakh as reward for information on him.
Gounder, a resident of Sarawan Bodla village of Muktsar, belongs to a gang formed by another history-sheeter Jaipal Singh. Gounder shot to limelight in January 2015 when his name cropped up as the prime suspect in the murder of rival gangster Sukha Kahlwan.
Gounder and his accomplices filmed the act and danced around Kahlwan’s body in front of policemen. Kahlwan was killed in Phagwara when six cops were taking him back to the Nabha jail in a jeep after a court hearing in Jalandhar. Gounder is wanted in at least 15 cases of murder, kidnapping and robbery in north India.
