7Another political front took shape at a meeting anchored by Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi here on Friday that will contest the ensuing assembly polls. The group— Punjab Front—has representatives from different political and social organisations.
The front has on board Sumit Bhullar-led Lok Punjab Front, Manjit Singh-led Democratic Swaraj Party, Ravi Inder Singhled Akhand Akali Dal, Resham Singh-led Bahujan Sangharsh Dal, Jagdev Singh-led volunteers and Sucha Singh Chhotepur’s Aapna Punjab Party (APP).
The front will work out a common minimum programme, and an eight-member committee has been formed for the purpose.
However, the front was yet to announce the number of constituencies it will contest polls from.
Three retired IAS officers, RR Bhardwaj, Karamjit Singh Sra and Gurtej Singh, were also present in the meeting.
“The Front has decided to approach Navjot Singh Sidhu led Awaaz-e-Punjab forum and the Left parties to explore possibilities for a poll alliance,” Gandhi told That.
